Focus on these 3 things to nail your resume

I asked the recruiter to share what they pay attention to the most

Hey friend,

We all know: hiring managers are busy people, but so are we.

Last week I sat down with a recruiter from my network and asked what main things they pay attention to the most & how to make sure your resume stands out from the crowd.

I summarized their reply in these 3 main points:

  1. Showcase Your Problem-Solving Skills: Have you tackled complex projects? Overcame significant challenges? Hiring managers love candidates who can think on their feet and deliver results under pressure.

  2. Quantify Your Achievements: Don't just tell them you're good; show them. Use numbers and metrics to highlight your accomplishments. For example, instead of saying "Increased sales," say "Increased sales by 25% in Q3."

  3. Demonstrate Your Industry Knowledge: Show that you're not just qualified for the job, but that you're passionate about your field. Stay up-to-date on industry trends and mention relevant certifications or professional memberships.

Here's a quick tip: I see more and more positions require Gen AI usage and knowledge, don’t miss this out. Take a course, and learn a new AI tool, so you can tell a story in the next interview.

Bonus:

When you're writing your resume, think of it as a sales pitch. You're trying to convince the hiring manager that you're the best person for the job. So, be confident, be clear, and be specific.

Remember: Your resume is your first impression. Make it count!
