Making it to the final round and still no offer?
7 tactical moves to break the pattern
Hey friend,
I saw a post yesterday about someone who made it to the final interview round 6 different times(!).
And still got rejected.
Each time, they walked away empty-handed while someone else got the job.
If this is happening to you, here's what's likely going on:
5 possible reasons you're stuck:
You've got 80% of what they need, but another candidate has 90%
You're interviewing well, but not demonstrating the exact experience they're prioritizing
You're solid on paper, but the "gut feeling" isn't clicking with decision-makers
You're up against internal candidates who already have relationships
Your salary expectations are misaligned with their budget
So, Violeta, what I can do?
Let’s break it down:
7 tactical moves to break the pattern:
Record yourself in mock interviews - watch your body language and tone
Ask them directly: "What's the ONE skill gap keeping me from being your top choice?"
Research who interviews you beforehand and personalize your approach to each stakeholder
Prepare 3 concise stories that showcase your biggest career wins - with metrics
At the end of each interview ask: "Based on our conversation, do you have any concerns about my fit for this role?"
Follow up with a specific action plan addressing any objections you heard
Consider dropping down one level where you can dominate the interview process, e.g. you know that your level is project coordinator, but you keep applying for way more senior roles. Try Senior Project Coordinator role, before jumping into PM role.
The job search is a numbers game, but not random. It's a puzzle you can solve with the right approach.
Don't take it personally ❤️
Remember that hiring decisions involve numerous factors beyond your control. The right fit is waiting.
Your dream job is also looking for you!
Until the next issue,
Violeta
