What I would do if I need to find a job now

Hey friend,

If you are looking for a job now - here are my 5 actionable advices to move things faster.

1. Clarify your industry preferences, location (remote/on-site/hybrid), and target companies.

Focus makes your search faster and more effective. Employers need to see a clear match.

I would focus on 20 companies I want to work at and 2 industries I really like.

2. Resume & LinkedIn update

• Tailor your resume to reflect results, skills, and keywords from your target job.

• Make your LinkedIn headline and “About” section match the job you're applying for.

• Add a featured section with a project portfolio or recent wins if possible.

Note! Your bullet points for each position shouldn’t be more that 4 per each role.

Clarity = better results.

3. Build a Job Search Tracker

• Create a simple spreadsheet or use a tool like Notion to track:

  • Applications

  • Status

  • Company contacts

  • Interview prep notes

I would also write some patterns across all job descriptions to see what roles requires, tools and softwares. It would help me to notice my gaps.

4. Outreach

• Send 3–5 messages a day on LinkedIn to people at target companies or roles.

• You need to target 3 people: recruiter, hiring manager and your future colleague with the same title.

• Comment meaningfully on posts from people who work at your dream companies.

5. Apply Smartly – Not Blindly

• Prioritize quality over quantity: aim to apply to 20-25 well-matched roles per week.

• Customize your resume for each one.

• Look for jobs on company websites, LinkedIn, and niche job boards relevant to your role.

Bonus: If you’re stuck, apply to a role and immediately reach out to someone at that company.
